Meet the LP12 Majik Sub-chassis

The Linn Majik Sub-chassis provides a rigid, acoustically controlled platform for the tonearm and is an important component in the performance of the Sondek LP12. It is constructed using a multi-layer box design from 1.5 mm-thick aluminium, providing an excellent combination of strength, rigidity and low mass. 

Designed to work with Linn’s five-layer laminated armboard, the Majik Sub-chassis creates a firm and acoustically damped mounting platform for the tonearm. This rigid construction helps maintain the critical relationship between the tonearm, platter and bearing, allowing the cartridge to track the record groove with greater precision. 

The Majik Sub-chassis is fitted as standard to the current Majik LP12 and is also available as an upgrade for earlier Sondek LP12 turntables equipped with the original standard sub-chassis. It is an effective upgrade for owners looking to improve the structural rigidity and overall performance of an existing LP12.

Technical Specifications

The Majik Sub-chassis is an excellent upgrade for an older LP12 because it improves the structural foundation supporting the tonearm. Its rigid aluminium construction, combined with Linn's laminated armboard, provides a stable and acoustically controlled platform that allows the tonearm and cartridge to perform more accurately.

It is also a particularly sensible upgrade for owners building an LP12 progressively, providing a strong foundation for further improvements such as the Karousel bearing, upgraded tonearm, cartridge and power supply. The Majik Sub-chassis remains an integral part of the current Majik LP12 specification.
