Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab has been the undisputed pioneer and leader in superior quality recordings since the company's inception in 1977. Established by recording specialists, Mobile Fidelity's first and foremost goal was to offer faithfully reproduced high fidelity recordings that would complement the numerous advances occurring in audio delivery systems. They still produce what is considered to be the best vinyl recordings available.

In June 1979, the company—now known as Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab—released Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon, the first half-speed-mastered release of a sonically improved version of a popular, previously issued album. It was followed by landmark reissues of recordings by the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and Frank Sinatra, all sold under the label Original Master Recording. Mobile Fidelity heralded the dawn of mass-market superior quality record reissues.

As part of the company's resolve to provide the most accurate sonic reproductions possible, all Mobile Fidelity product is mastered directly from the original master tape as opposed to production copies often used for mass reproduction. This ensures a more complete and exacting transfer of the original musical data. In the case of the Original Master Recording™ (OMR) LP, the use of the master tape is combined with a unique procedure known as "half-speed" mastering, which literally slows down the cutting system involved in mastering vinyl so that musical information can be transferred from the source tape to the lacquer with greater precision. To this advanced mastering technique, Mobile Fidelity adds substantial refinements in the vinyl compound itself and improves methods of plating the lacquer. The result is a significant improvement in overall performance from the vinyl medium.

Drawing on 5 decades of making the world's best sounding records, Mobile Fidelity has designed a range of turntables, cartridges and phono that continue the Mobile Fidelity tradition of getting you closer to what the original artist intended.Designed in collaboration with some of the world's finest audio designers, StudioDeck and UltraDeck feature an incredible amount of ingenuity and technology usually reserved for much more expensive products.
